Fishermen brought to safety

BOSTON, Mass. — Four fishermen were rescued by the Coast Guard Thursday morning after their boat's battery died 43 miles southeast of Portland.
The Rye Harbor, N.H., fishermen radioed the Coast Guard for help and the CGC Flyingfish, on patrol about 17 miles from the Ann Marie, was dispatched to the scene and established communications with the stranded crew.
The 87-foot, Boston-based cutter arrived at 11 a.m. and took the Ann Marie in tow. The Flyingfish set a course toward Portland Head Light, where a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station South Portland took on the tow around 6:15 p.m.
The station crew towed the the Ann Marie and its crew to the Portland Fish Co-op, where they safely moored around 7:30 p.m.
"The crew of the Ann Marie was happy to be at the pier," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Mark Stuart, the coxswain from the station.
Stewart said the fishing crew expected to continue fishing Friday morning.
